A Guide to a More Beautiful Yard and Garden
Create a green lush oasis within your landscape and you’ll create a source of beauty and pride. Tending to your yard and garden with the appropriate lawn tools will make an enjoyable task of even of the most daunting jobs!
Whether you plan to keep your garden and landscape simple and confined, or your plans include water features, stone paths, and exotic plants; the proper landscape equipment will help keep your garden well tended and beautiful. Unless your plan is for walking paths and beds planted throughout your space, you will first and foremost need lawn mowers. Depending on your yard size you may wish to consider a riding mower for your large open spaces, and a push mower for your trim area. If your plans include shrubs, perennials, or annuals, you will want to consider investing in a good set of pruners. These will work well for tending small trees, shrubs, perennials, and can even be used for deadheading your annuals.
Never underestimate to value of a good string trimmer! These handy items can not only be used for your small trimming jobs, but they also work to take grass and weeds all the way down the ground creating an almost edged look around your beds and pathways.
A strategically placed vegetable garden can add a lush source of color that doubles as a great source of fresh fruits and vegetables! Pole beans can be used to create a tall green wall, or quickly cover an arbor while strawberry plants grow dense with green leaves, adorable white flowers, and bright red berries; the landscape trifecta!
Keep your landscape simple from the beginning with low maintenance shrubs like boxwoods and dwarf lilacs. Plant plenty of perennials which won’t require a lot of tending in spring or fall like daylilies, yarrow, and geraniums. Be sure to fill those shady corners with shrubs like kerria and hydrangea, and plenty of hostas, ferns, and astilble. Keeping ground covers growing will help keep the weeds down. Vinca or Periwinkle, Sweet Woodruff, and Golden Creeping Charlie will all add a lush carpet of color. However, beware of invasive varieties which could strangle out not only your weeds, but also the perennials you want to keep!
The proper lawn care tools are essential to help keep your yard and garden chores enjoyable instead of a massive overgrowth that becomes a weekend job you dread! Keep it simple, and keep it green!
